2008年夏“小岩COCHI”にて、トランペッター類家心平とのDUO活動を始めたことがきっかけで、DUOやTRIOなどの小編成でのセッションが活性化している。スタンダード・ジャズ主体だが、オリジナルやインプロヴィゼイションの要素が増す日もあり、出会う相手によって音楽性は様々。あえて言えば、ピアノ＋ベース＋ドラムといった“普通”の編成にならないことかな。ピアノ・ソロと相互作用しながら、共に進化し続けております。

＜坪研吉、M3 Trio、坪研DUO＞

スタンダード・ジャズをこじんまりしたお店で演奏することを主眼に置いた、サクソフォニスト津上研太とのコラボレーション。お互いお気に入りの曲を持ち寄り、2003年春、中目黒の旧“楽屋”で活動を始め、2004年からは大泉学園in Fに一ヶ月おきに出演。研太が海外ツアーで不在の間、変則的な吉見征樹＆菊地雅晃とのM3 Trioで演奏したり、最近は吉見氏を交えた坪研吉が恒例化したり（タブラが入ったスタンダード・ジャズというのは独特かつ有機的）、やや流動的ではあるが、ビバップ系スタンダード中心という一線は貫いている。2007年4月のライブをもって、活動終了。
